The World Health Organisation (WHO) has raised the pandemic alert phase for the Mexican swine flu outbreaks from Phase 4 to Phase 5. The change to a higher phase indicates that there is human-to-human spread of the virus into at least two countries in one region. The declaration of Phase 5 is a strong signal that a pandemic is imminent, though not inevitable. Even though as of 30th April 2009, there are no human cases of Mexican swine flu in Singapore, MOH will be upgrading our Disease Outbreak Response System Alert status from Yellow to Orange.

And do you know that:

- US swine flu cases rise to 118 in 15 states
- Japan reports first suspected swine flu case
- Hong Kong patients tested negative for swine flu
- WHO changes swine flu name to 'influenza A (H1N1)'

Depending on your company:

Persons with a travel history to Mexico over the past seven days will be quarantined for seven days on their return to Singapore and will undergo phone surveillance for symptoms for the Swine Influenza.

All persons who return from affected areas (other than Mexico) are to self-quarantine and work from home for seven days upon returning, and check themselves for symptoms for Swine Influenza.

The quarantine period begins upon your return to Singapore from the affected areas. Please check the MOH website (http://www.moh.gov.sg/) for the live list of affected areas.

Then there is someone send me this Infrared Camera and Thermometer that can detect fever.
